When I was a little girl, I knew who I was. I was confidently an
artist, a singer, a good friend, a deep thinker, a deep feeler.
But, I spent my teenage years trying to be like everyone else. I
spent my 20s trying to become what everyone else expected
me to be. And, my 30s playing the role of who other people
thought I was.
In my 40s though, what I've realized is that life is too
precious to spend even one moment being a character in
someone else's story. It's time for me to re-discover the
confidence and knowing of that little girl who embraced
exactly who she was created to be.
I was terrified to participate in this project. But, I knew
Alana's work would capture my authentic essence in print. I
wanted to look at these pictures and think, "Oh! There you
are."
